  • English Language Proficiency: The IELTS exam is necessary for applicants. You receive 20 points if they achieve eight bands or higher.
  • Skilled employment: You will receive points according to the number of years you have worked in a profession that is on the Skilled Occupations List. The maximum number of points you can earn is 20.
  • Educational background: Your background must be relevant to the occupation you have chosen to receive points under this area. A doctorate will get you a maximum of 20 points, whilst a bachelor’s or master’s degree will earn you 15.
  • Australian credentials: If you have an Australian degree from an Australian university, you will receive five points.
  • Study in a regional area: Living and studying in a regional area of Australia can earn you an extra five points.
  • Community language proficiency: If you are proficient in one of the nation’s community languages at the translator or interpreter level, you will receive an additional five points.
  • Skills and credentials of your spouse or partner: If your spouse or partner is not an Australian citizen or resident and you have mentioned them in the application, their skills may be applied to your overall score. If your spouse or partner fulfills the prerequisites for Australian General Skilled Migration, you will receive an extra five points.
  • Professional year: If you have completed a Professional Year in Australia for at least 12 months during the previous four years from either ACS, CPA, CAANZ, IPA, or Engineers Australia, you will be eligible to receive an additional five points. You must score at least 65 points to qualify for a visa under the General Skilled Migrant Program. 
  • Skilled Independent Visa: If you meet the requirements for particular jobs on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL), you may be eligible for this visa. Employer sponsorship is not necessary for this visa. To see whether your abilities are in demand, utilize the SkillSelect tool.
  • Employer Nomination Program: Workers sponsored by their employers are granted a permanent work visa under this program.
  • TSS Visa (Temporary Skill Shortage): Depending on the employee’s needs, this visa allows them to work for two to four years. Candidates must be under 45 years old and have at least two years of work experience. Employers who hire people under this visa are required to pay them the going rate.
