  • possess at least the SMC salary threshold (median wage) of post-qualification, skilled job experience in New Zealand for an extra 1.5 years.
  • work as a technician or in an eligible trade that pays at least the SMC salary threshold (median wage).
  • possess a relevant qualification that is either higher than or equal to level 4 on the NZQCF.
  • possess a minimum of 2.5 years of relevant post-qualification work experience in an ANZSCO skill level 1–3 occupation, and
  • at least 120 credits on the NZQCF, or
  • less than 120 credits but with multiple prerequisite qualifications that together make at least 120 credits.
