UK Tourist Visa eligibility Criteria: who can apply from India?

  • Your stated goal must be true and verifiable, and you must be a legitimate visitor.
  • You must intend to leave the UK at the end of your permitted stay
  • For the period of your visit, you must be able to sustain yourself and any dependents financially.
  • You must not plan to work, accept public funds, or pursue higher education beyond the permitted time.
  • You cannot plan to stay in the UK for a long time by making frequent trips.
  • Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the date you want to depart. 
  • You must not have a history of visa refusals, overstays, or immigration violations (undisclosed)

UK Tourist Visa Documents Required from India

  • Original, valid passport that is valid for the length of your stay and has at least two blank pages
  • Every prior passport (if any), including those that have expired, since they provide travel history
  • Aadhaar card (as proof of identity)
  • Two current passport-sized photos (45 x 35 mm, white backdrop, no spectacles).
  • The minimum balance recommendations for the last six months’ original bank statements (personal savings and/or current account) vary, but GBP 500–1,000 per week of stay is a commonly used benchmark.
  • Income Tax Returns (ITR) over the previous two to three years
  • Pay stubs for the last three to six months (for salaried applicants)
  • Employment letter attesting to title, pay, authorization of leave, and desire to resume work
  • GST returns, business bank statements, and business registration certificates (for self-employed applicants and business owners)
  • Property records or evidence of investments (as supplementary financial ties)
  • Letter of sponsorship and financial records from the sponsor (if your visit is being funded by someone in the UK).
  • Hotel reservations or verified lodging information for the duration of your stay in the UK
  • A letter of invitation from a host in the UK (if you’re staying with family or friends) accompanied by documentation of their UK citizenship or residency
  • A comprehensive itinerary that covers every day of your trip to the UK
  • Tickets for return flights (confirmed or provisional; do not purchase non-refundable tickets before the approval of your visa).
  • Confirmed leave dates and return obligations in an employment letter
  • Evidence of business ownership and continuous activities
  • Documents of property ownership (home, land, commercial property)
  • In India, dependent family members (spouse, kids, aging parents), pictures, enrollment in school, and any relevant medical documents
